Were in!

Construction is still going on in the bathroom/bedroom but we officially moved in. We have a couple of rooms of sanity right now and I can say it feels wonderful. We can't wait for all of you to come and say hello!

Finished floors = beautiful!

This photo you can see where sometime in the good'ol'days they had the wood floors exposed on the outside, some sort of rug permantly attached to the middle of the floor on the inside. Unfortunately, this room is as good as could get. Luckily, O has beautiful rugs to place over. This will be our bedroom. New closets as well!

This is the porch with the putting green type carpet over it.

Some more photos of old crap!

Here are some photos that O had taken, thought we would document them up for all of you to see. This is the porch. Putting green, over indoor/outdoor carpet, over sticky black adhesive, resulted in pure disaster when the washing machine flooded. Time for that nasty stuff to go...

Oops, no matter how careful you are, really old PVC pipes break with ease...note to self...learn where water shut offs are prior to demo work.

True Vintage

Just when you thought you were done with carpet, linoleum rears its ugly head.

Uhhhhh, a little overwhelming right now

The upstairs bedrooms are sanded and prepped for sealing. Amazingly beautiful longleaf pine. The brothers that are doing the hardwood refinishing say that this particular wood is unable to be bought new anymore for hardwoods. He says that the only way we could ever get more of it would be to find it torn out of an old home. It is so unbelievable that this was covered up with carpet. Next photos should be even more amazing!

The bathroom demo is completed. Electricians and plumbers start next week. The holes in the floor were done to gain access to a little more of the hardwood flooring. We salvaged some from the bathroom to put into the downstairs bedroom where there were some trouble spots.

Yeah, less nasty carpet!

O has been hard at work tearing out carpet, seeing what we have to work with. I've been a little laid up due to a run-in with a pair of cowboy boots. In general, everything is fantastic. Some great old wood that is going to be beautiful. Plans are to have the hardwood re-finishers come in a little over a week!

What will be our bedroom.

Stairwell, too bad they remodeled it at some time as the first 5 steps are plywood instead of the beautiful old stairs. :(

Upstairs hallway

This was one of the big issues of the house. There was mold throughout one of the closets in the bedroom downstairs. We had this professionally remediated. Turns out it was a small issue compared to what they said it could turn into. It just gave us a reason to remodel the bedroom and add new closets!

Remainder of carpet to be removed this weekend...bathroom demo to follow. Things are moving!

iPhone photography apps are pretty sweet!

Here are some panoramic views of the rooms in the house! Look at the hardwoods which were underneath that beautiful red and green shag carpet! Thanks to all of you who helped tear down wallpaper and carpet out. You always have a room at casa-bartlett.

Um, yeah, that's a copper hood.

Here we go...again!

We have officially purchased our new home. An old Victorian, sign on the front says built in 1875. The bones are strong, potential is amazing. Just a little rough on the inside. We have been living in 595 sq/ft of home for the last few years. Those of you who have been to our little home know how awesome it was to sleep on the hide-a-bed in the living room/dining room/hallway, will be thrilled that next time you can have your own bedroom. The new digs are 4-bedroom, 1.5 baths, 2600 sq/ft of space that we don't know what we will do with. Plus, 2+ car garage allows for the truck and "the gato" their own abode. If you are interested (or skilled) in any trade, let me know, we will be learning about everything about home improvement in the near future!
